For those of you who are IATEFL members, you may have seen the proposal in the latest issue of the IATEFL journal, Voices, to set up an Extensive Reading SIG . This SIG is being proposed by me, Tom Le Seelleur, and I work at Khalifa University in Sharjah in the UAE. The SIG is about creating readers, reducing illiteracy and making young and old interested in reading.
I wish to draw the attention to a new series of ELT graded readers, published by ELI Publishing Ltd, in which illustrations aim at being more than just a didactic accompaniment to the text and become true pictures to help readers catch the aesthetical and emotional atmosphere of the stories.
The First Extensive Reading World Congress, to be held in Kyoto, Japan from September 3 to September 6, 2011, is calling for presentation proposals until Feb 28, 2011. See http://erfoundation.org/erwc1 for further information!
